Re: Comment: Here Comes Ron Paul – The New Yorker

Comment: Here Comes Ron Paul : The New Yorker. You say vote for Ron Paul and people look at you funny. He has never been the most popular candidate, John Stewart has pointed this out time and time again with the way the media has covered Ron Paul. He believes in the constitution and firmly believes the US need to return to its roots.

Many would call this crazy and point out he is against abortion, returning the dollar back to the gold standard and willing to remove the US as a super power from the world stage, and removing the FED. This is all true, but Ron Paul’s priorities are not in removing abortion rights and returning to the gold standard. It’s a principle he stands for not something once President he will actively pursue. I think that is where people confuse the man with his job. Ron Paul’s interests for government are simple:  Stop the wars and military actions in foreign countries, build up the US industry and grow the economy, put an end to Washington’s bureaucracy by returning to the values given by the Founding Fathers, and stop the debt created by the government. The scary part for people is that he actually means these things.

Look at the other republican candidates, they are all true politicians paying lip service to the base but deep down most people know they will be inept, that they won’t rock the ship they won’t make a significant change in their lives but at least they stand for something however vague. They all are sort of conservatives one just talks better than the other or one looks better than the other.

Just look at how the public can discredit Cain for Marital infidelity yet Gingrich is ahead in the poles and he has several infidelities  under his belt. You had Palin running for Vice President but she couldn’t figure what a Vice President did. Perry runs an ad that would do well in the 1950, when homophobia was on the rage and those Atheists were out to eat your children,  not an ad for 2011. Romny, well no one knows where he stands he’s lied so much its hard to tell where his values are.    These politicians promise and swear but most people just feel they can’t do any worse they can’t make things worse. With Ron Paul its different, you know he’s going to rock the boat, you know he’s going to make a scandal and fight for what he believes and that’s too much for most people.

Obama’s health care has taken him almost 4 years to pass and he is still fighting for it. Ron Paul want to cut a trillion in the government budget. It wont be easily, but he isn’t just paying lip service. This feat alone will take him years to carry out if he is President, but he will do it, he will fight the government on every dollar it spends, and this is the reason people are so afraid to back him or support him. He is willing to cut off his own foot to save this country and for politicians this is unthinkable, he is willing to sacrifice their power base, their money and clout for the good of the country.

Talk about crazy, willing to do something for the people, not for the party? This is why I just love Ron Paul, he is stable, true and believes what he says. No other politician attacks his integrity, he is the only one of the bunch who says what he means and does what he means, and that is just too much for politicians. It’s funny how Christians always tout that the truth will set you free and how being true and loyal to your values is more important than anything else, but they aren’t willing to back up the only politician who has never lied to them. Iowa is a litmus test for Presidential candidates because of the religious vote, if you can win them over you’ve got a chance. I just wish they were as forgiving of Ron Paul as they have for the other candidates. He’s consistently been second or third in the polls, never dipped below that and yet never has anyone given him a chance to win. I just hope you do when it matters.
