EAST LANSING, Mich. ― Back by popular demand, Franc D’Ambrosio returns with an all-new musical production, Christmas in NY. Take a musical tour of New York City from the tree at Rockefeller Center to the big snowflakes hanging along Fifth Avenue at Central Park South while hearing all of your Christmas favorites. Tickets are on sale now at the Auto-Owners Ticket Office at Wharton Center, online at whartoncenter.com or by calling 1-800-WHARTON.
Recognized for his vibrant voice and legato singing, D’Ambrosio is affectionately known as perhaps the best “Phantom” in the Tony award-winning musical, The Phantom of the Opera. He held the distinction as the “World’s Longest Running Phantom,” a title he retained for over a decade. His diverse resume includes an Academy Award-nominated film, an Emmy Award-nominated TV show, a Tony Award-nominated Broadway show, two Grammy considerations, and more.
D’Ambrosio studied under the legendary tenor Luciano Parvarotti after his Academy Award winning performance of “Speak Softly Love” from Brucia la Terra. In early 2000, Barry Manilow personally selected him to create and star as the male lead, “Tony”, in the pre-Broadway tour of Copacabana. While continuously touring with his popular one man shows, D’Ambrosio found time in 2008 to co-star with Dorothy Hamill in the critically acclaimed Broadway On Ice, produced by Bietak Productions, Inc. He also received invitations from Olympic Champion Brian Boitano to perform on his TV special Brian Boitano’s Skating Spectacular.
Franc D’Ambrosio: Christmas in NY is generously sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance; Physicians Health Plan; and White, Schneider, Young and Chiodini PC. It is part of the Accident Fund Variety at Wharton Center Series.
