Third San Diego-to-Tijuana tunnel Discovered
Marijuana seized in raid on San Diego-to-Tijuana tunnel – latimes.com. 17 tons of marijuana were found in a warehouse ad tunnel that connected Mexico and the US. The tunnel spanned more than 4 football fields. The drugs were labeled with the Captain America seal, which is used by the Sinaloa drug cartel in Tijuana, Mexico. This is the third of two large tunnels discovered in the same neighborhood.
With massive resources and high demand for the drugs, cartels have gone to great lengths creating tunnels with ventilation, submarines that travel across rivers and canals and entire networks of communications to keep tabs on immigration and law enforcement officials. The war on drugs has been going on since the 1970, almost 41 years now, and instead of seeing progress in the war we have higher rates of drugs entering the US and higher consumption rates. Violence has reached all times highs in Mexico as well since it also started its war on drugs. It’s a war we can’t win as long as there is a demand for the product and with unlimited resources cartels work as corporations buying law enforcement, politicians and supporters.
